A Brief Insight Into Autism

  • Autism is an information processing neurological disorder of the brain that causes the development of a child to differ in certain ways from that of a normal development of a child.
  • Children with autism have difficulty in making sense of the world and do not follow the same rules of communication and socialization that come naturally to others.

  • No one knows what causes Autism, while research is on, there is no known cure for autism but consistent therapies and training have shown remarkable improvements in children.
    However, complete cure and acceptance in main stream is still a far-cry.
  


Autistic Brain
According to research done the average cerebral volume -- including measures of the cerebrum, cerebellum, amygdala and hippocampus -- is 10 percent larger in autistic children than in typically developing children.
 

Aims at the Autistic Centre
 

Our aim is to teach children with autism and/or other related communication difficulties, skills for life that will enable them to reach their true potential and function within society successfully, building knowledge and confidence to live as independently as possible.

Hence, we shall:

  Promote autism awareness within the community
  Ensure that all pupils are respected as individuals
  Promote preparation for life by focusing on life and social skills
  Promote positive behaviour amongst autistic children at all times
  Effectively monitor, evaluate and review our strengths as well as areas to be developed
  Be receptive to share new initiatives and ideas
  Work in partnership with parents to support the development of their child
         
Our

It is our belief that all children will learn and improve, given the right conditions and children with autism are no exception.

We believe that each child must have an Individual Enrichment Programme which allows for access to mainstream, community and social inclusion which should not be hampered by their disability, but planned for effective integration into the society.

  

 

We believe that if we cannot determine the capabilities of any individual, we should give them the tools to aspire and reach their own true potential.

We believe that learning should be fun and rewarding and it should encourage the desire to learn in a place where each person feels valued and everyone is treated equally with respect, dignity and equality.
